Jud-a-as
Holy mindfuck.
Lady Gaga portrayed the 12 apostles as a motorcycle gang. Actually, other than that and a slightly confusing and erotic footwashing scene, the video was much better than the song is. I appreciate that the dance moves are fairly simple for the most part. That's going to make parody videos a million times easier and more entertaining to watch!
After watching "Judas" I decided to watch "Born This Way" since I love the song and had never seen the video.
Holy mindfuck.
The first three minutes are awful. It reminded me of what Chandler must have suffered through in "The One With the Birthing Video" where he expected to view porn and watching a birthing instead by accident. Once I made it past that part, I liked it more, but if it wasn't for the music that I knew HAD to be coming, I would have turned it off before the first minute was up.
All in all, good work, Lady Gaga. You have successfully made me give a second look at 13 years of religious education and made me terrified to ever birth ANYTHING.

The 30 Day TV Meme (what exactly is a meme anyway?):
Day 1: A show that should have never been cancelled
Easy. GILMORE GIRLS. I blame Amy Sherman-Palladino for the downfall of a fantastic show that ended entirely too soon.
Day 2: A show you wish more people were watching
Hmm... either Army Wives or Covert Affairs. I love both of these shows, but it seems like outside of a couple of friends and my family (at least as far as CA goes), not many other people watch them. Obviously there are people watching them... CA was renewed for a second season after like the 4th episode of the first season, but they're not people I know. So next summer when they both come back (fingers crossed on AW!), watch them!
Day 3: Your favorite new TV show (aired this season)
Well technically we're in between the end of the summer season and the beginning of the fall season, so I'll say Covert Affairs since that came out when I was on vacation, which by the way, it doesn't seem possible that that was almost 2 months ago, but it was.
Day 4: Your favorite show ever
NCIS. Hands. Down. This is another show that I just started watching a little over a year ago, but let me tell you, I've seen every episode at least twice, and most of them I've seen way more times than that, and if a show can keep my interest that strong in such a high concentrated amount. Let's face it, I get distracted easily, so the fact that NCIS has kept my attention so well is kind of a big deal.
Day 5: A show you hate
I realize I'm going to get flack for this, but I don't care. I really hate Grey's Anatomy. I think it went from a good hospital drama to a completely outrageous circus disguised as a hospital. Too many good actors have left the show for bullshit reasons, and it shows. Yes, having a season finale where numerous people randomly get shot gets a lot of attention, but if it was a good show, it would have gotten the same attention with something understated. No one gives a flying fig about the other episodes from the most recent season, and that's because they sucked.
Day 6: Favorite episode of your favorite TV show
This is mean! There isn't an episode I don't love. I guess if I had to pick one about the others, it would probably be Twisted Sister. I love how dedicated McGee is to his sister (and real-life step-sister... Don Bellasario keeps it in the family!) and of course, it's the big reveal of the book he's been working on in secret... probably because he "loosely" based all of the characters off of his co-workers. Whoops. Anyway, I like it because it's one of those turning-point episodes where we start to see that McGee isn't as green as he used to be.
Day 7: Least favorite episode of your favorite TV show
Another bad question! Probably Judgement Day Part 1&2. I know that Jenny was dying of something (rumors online speculated that it was muscular dystrophy) anyway, but I really hate how she was killed off of the show, and then they brought in Vance. I hate Vance a little less now than I did at the beginning of season 6, but I don't think it was fair what they did to Director Shepherd's character. She's actually an intelligent and competent woman in season 3 and most of season 4, but then in season 5 they turned into an obsessive maniac. Plus, I read online that Lauren Holly had no idea that she was being killed off of the show, and I think that's crappy. At least when Kate was killed off, Sasha Alexander wanted off of the show.
Day 8: A show everyone should watch
This may sound silly, but everyone needs to watch just one episode of 19 Kids and Counting. Even if you don't believe in the Duggar's policy regarding the number of their children, you can't deny that those kids are some of the most polite and well-behaved children out there. Go watch an old episode of Jon & Kate Plus 8 and follow it immediately with an episode of 19 Kids and you'll see what I mean.
Day 9: Best scene ever
The scene from Friends where Rachel finds out that she's pregnant. I love love LOVE that Phoebe tricks her into thinking that she's not pregnant so she'll have clarity on what her thoughts on having a baby would be! The look on Rachel's face when Phoebe tells her the truth is priceless... my bet is that they did that in one take.
Day 10: A show you thought you wouldn't like but ended up loving
*shifty eyes*... NCIS. You can ask my sister, when she first started watching it in the early part of last summer, I absolutely hated it. I think I only watched bits and pieces of the show, but other than Law & Order: SVU, I had never found a one hour crime drama that I liked. Now I'm hooked.
Day 11: A show that disappointed you
White Collar. On paper, I thought I would really like it, but I got bored after the first couple of episodes. I watched a few episodes this summer because my parents watch it, and I liked them okay, but I still expected more from that show.
Day 12: An episode you've watched more than 5 times
According to iTunes, I've watched Caged (from NCIS, of course) five times. It's the episode where McGee is held hostage in a woman's prison... I'm not surprised that I've watched it that much! Any McGee-centric episode is high on my list!
Day 13: Favorite childhood show
The first show that I remember being in love with was Full House. I actually cried when the last episode aired. I usually cry when the last episode of a show airs. But that was the first. I remember I got really irritated with Michelle and how she basically got to do her own thing when she was so young, but I loved DJ. Donna Jo was the shit. And of course, now I find Uncle Jesse foxy.
Day 14: Favorite male character
If it wasn't for the whole surprise daughter thing, I would have said Luke from Gilmore Girls, but he handled that whole situation so poorly and it destroyed his relationship with Lorelai, so scratch that. Probably Gibbs. He's a very complex person, and yet I feel like every time the writers bring in another dimension of his character, it makes sense. It's like, "Oh, why didn't I see that all along." I'm a big fan of consistency on TV shows, and NCIS does a really good job with that, especially with Gibbs.
Day 15: Favorite female character
Annie Walker on Covert Affairs. Even though the first season just wrapped, I feel like we know a lot about her character already, and she's one strong woman!
Day 16: Your guilty pleasure show
Keeping Up With the Kardashians/Kourtney and Khloe Take Miami. No judging, you all have guilty shows too!
Day 17: Favorite mini series
I honestly can't think of an entire mini-series that I've watched.
Day 18: Favorite title sequence
NCIS! I love to dance to the music, and up until recently, they always update the clips. Even when Gibbs left at the end of season 3, when they had the credits for Mark Harmon on screen, the videos behind his name were of him on the beach in Mexico. Now that's dedication to consistency!
Day 19: Best TV show cast
I'm starting to feel like a broken record, but NCIS totally wins this one too. For one thing, the actors are all actually friends in real life. Pauley Perrette and Sean Murray are BIFFLES4LYFE, and when Lauren Holly first joined the cast, she rented a condo with Cote de Pablo (who also had just joined the show), Michael Weatherly, and Pauley Perrette. They were friggin' roomsicles! And even though Mark Harmon is always the one who get interviewed by the bigwigs, he makes a point to emphasize that NCIS is an ENSEMBLE show and that while his names comes first, without the other actors and behind-the-scenes crew, he would be nothing. Now that's love.
Day 20: Favorite kiss
Ross and Rachel in Central Perk. YOU KNOW THE ONE.
Totally just noticed that Rachel's wearing a ring on her left ring finger... what?
Day 21: Favorite ship
McAbby! I know it happened a long long time ago, but there's so much chemistry between them. Plus, they really get each other. Until Vance came around, the only person who really appreciated McGee's tech skills was Abby. And Abby gets jealous every time McGee dates someone new (who usually turns out to be a wack job, so good job for her having that kind of insight) which would be understandable right after they broke up sometime in season 2, but when she's still getting jealous 5 years later... SHE'S DRIFTING INTO RACHEL GREEN TERRITORY!
Day 22: Favorite series finale
I already covered how the ends of shows make me cry. So if I had to pick, I'd say Gilmore Girls. No, it wasn't perfect because Luke and Lorelai didn't get married, but Rory graduated and miraculously got a real-person job (with Obama!) so I feel like it ended in a good spot. Plus Richard actually tells Lorelai how proud he is of her for what she's done with her life and how she's raised Rory.
Day 23: Most annoying character
Meredith Grey. Look in the dictionary for "whiny self-absorbed bitch" and there's a picture of Meredith, I guarantee it.
Day 24: Best quote
From Army Wives: The mind plays tricks on us at times like this. It has to. We need it to. It's how we're able to power on and do what needs to be done. Even something as mundane as doing the dishes that are piling up in the sink, or going out, getting up and doing what needs to be done for your loved ones. The future doesn't stop. We all search for strength on that first day or two. I did. But whether what I found was true strength or some part of our DNA that makes us want to reach out and help, I don't know. Times like this we question our own strength, our ability to hang on and not crumble. It's one of the things I admire most about the army wives I've met. Must be a military thing- this capacity to press on despite the obstacles, to see a mission through to its completion. No matter what happens that makes us question the world we live in, life goes on, as cliché as that sounds. One generation passes the baton to the next generation and the cycle of life continues. Regeneration- life renewed. What is it that the poets keep trying to hammer into our heads? Winter becomes spring, night becomes day, as one wave crashes onto the shore and disappears, another one appears behind it, and another and another. I guess we humans just plain want to stick around. The ride must be worth the price of admission. And it's not in us to give up hope, even when any reason for hope has dwindled to almost nothing. This communal spirit, this crazy insistence that we all are connected in each other's caretaker, it keeps us from sinking into despair, or sliding into the abyss. What is it about the human touch- holding a loved one close and feeling their warmth, their heartbeat. I mean this is the Army and frequently our loved ones are far away. But their warmth doesn't have to be. At times it feels totally random. It's roll of the dice on who lives and who dies. At some point words fail us and we're left with silence. Silence and time. I read something once, to live in hears you leave behind, is not to die. I don't know what each of you is going to do today, but now is the time to tell those you love, that you love them. Like we loved Amanda and she lives in our hearts still, and will never be forgotten. Me, I think I'm going to pick up my kids up and take that ride down to the ocean like they wanted. The water's beautiful this time of the year. Besides, they know where the gold starfish are.
Just rereading that made me teary-eyed. Good stuff.
Day 25: A show you plan on watching, old or new
I really want to watch Rissoli and Isles, even though the summer season ended. But I want to see what Sasha Alexander is like in a major role that isn't Kate. And she plays a medical examiner!
Day 26: OMG WTF? Season finale
NCIS always ends their seasons with a bang. Let's review:
Season 1: Kate was taken hostage by Ari, and Ari attempts to shoot down Marine One.
Season 2: Kate gets sniped by Ari, after taking a bullet to save Gibbs when the team is trying to prevent Ari from launching a guided missile at a Navy ship returning home.
Season 3: Gibbs gets blown up on a merchant ship, suffers memory loss and thinks he's still fighting in Desert Storm, and ultimately retires to Mexico to live with Mike Franks.
Season 4: Tony's car gets blown up while NCIS is watching in MTAC and thinks he was in it when they find his badge, gun, and cell phone in with the charred remains. Director Shepherd finds evidence that her father, who allegedly killed himself years earlier, is in fact still alive.
Season 5: Director Shepherd, Tony, and Ziva attend the funeral of another NCIS agent in LA, while Jenny discovers that her cover may have been blown on an undercover op years earlier, and now that person is killing off people involved in that mission; first the agent whose funeral they went to, then Jenny, and eventually Gibbs (but the last never happens, thankfully). Vance becomes the new director of NCIS, and he splits up Team Gibbs, sending Tony to be an Agent Afloat, Ziva back to Israel, and McGee to the Cybercrime unit.
Season 6: Tony kills Ziva's boyfriend (and Mossad partner), and Ziva's apartment gets blown up. Ziva permanently moves back to Israel, until her father sends her on a mission that ultimately ends with her being held prisoner in Somalia.
Season 7: The members of the drug cartel that Gibbs killed the leader of years earlier (because he killed Gibbs' wife and young daughter) are now after Gibbs, and go around trying to kill the people Gibbs holds nearest and dearest. The show ends with the cartel woman going into Gibbs' father's shop and flipping the sign on the door to closed. Creepy.
Day 27: Best pilot episode
Covert Affairs! I was completely hooked on the first episode, so much that I watched it 3 times in less than 48 hours, and part of that time I was traveling.
Day 28: First TV show obsession
In more recent years, Gilmore Girls. I don't know if I was really obsessed with Full House because I was so little, but that may have been the actual first.
Day 29: Current TV show obsession
I'm not even answering this. If you can't figure that out by reading this survey, you're dumber than I thought.
Day 30: Saddest character death
When I watch the episodes after Kate's death on NCIS, I cry more than I do when Jenny died. Jenny's death was handled very differently. It was basically swept under the rug... and then her house was lit on fire. Kate's death was very public. We got to see each of the team's thoughts around her death, and how they all reacted. Like when Tony starts to pick on McGee (like usual) when McGee makes some stupid comment about how Kate probably doesn't look that bad from the front because of the type of bullet used to shoot her in the head, and then McGee asks Tony to stop because he just can't handle that kind of criticism that day, and Tony actually stops. It's one of the few times we get to see Tony respect McGee. And when "Kate" scolds Gibbs for being late to her funeral, even thought it's such a sad moment, it makes me smile a little bit because it's very ... Kate.
Okay, that's all! Snaps to you if you read it!

A Series Of Good Ideas!
I have felt pretty awful again today... pretty sure I have the plague. Ha, actually no. But I've been fighting really awful headaches recently. So today was a day of laying in my bed, after I helped out at my Grandma's house.
Anyway, in the last week or so, I have developed several good ideas (or at least I think so) and I am now prepared to share them with you. But no stealing! Or else I will cut bitches!
Christine's Super-Awesome List Of Good Ideas!
1. Buy two ducks. Name one duck Dr. Mallard. Name the other duck Palmer. Award one million cool points to anyone who gets this reference. Cool points may be redeemable for snuggles and chapstick only.
2. Lady Gaga Halloween costumes for babies! Can't you picture a little chubby bundle of joy dressed up dressed up with a bunch of Kermits on them? I mean, there has to be a good reason why Lady Gaga addresses her fans as LITTLE monsters, right?
3. Getting rid of this: (shield the eyes of your small children!)
4. Solve all problems by battling in a large vat of pudding. This doesn't need any more explanation.
5. Keep all men underground and use them purely for breeding. Okay, so I may have stolen that one from Topanga on Boy Meets World, but plagiarism doesn't really count if you're stealing from a fictional character, right? HOKAY!
Alrighty, this has been a peach and a half of fuzzy goodness. I'm going to go now before anyone accuses me of anything hinky.

food coma!
Anyway, I'm exhausted, and I'm spending the rest of my evening relaxing and catching up on sleep. I've eaten entirely too much in the last 48 hours, so between that and the lack of sleep, I don't want to leave my bed for a long time.

"Graduation" by Vitamin C is now a 10 year old song. FEEL OLD BITCHES!
I should just keep an ongoing list of things that bother me... it seems like every day I find new things to hate on. I'm really not in a down mood, but there are a whole bunch of dumb people out there. I don't feel like processing actual thoughts, so I'm just going to make a list!
Christine's List of Things That Bother Her (in no particular order):
- People who don't use their turn signals.
- People who CONSTANTLY "forget" to put up an away message/say they're busy when they're busy or not at their computer.
- People who don't know how to drive down my street. Yes, it curves. No, you don't need to use your turn signal to draw attention to the fact that the road curves.
- People who won't listen to you when you're trying to tell them something and then expect you to bend over backwards to help them out.
- Ke$ha.
- The dollar sign in Ke$ha's name. Come on, there is no way that makes any sense at all, you idiot.
- People who are bad at estimating time. "Oh, that was just a few minutes ago!" when it was actually 3 hours earlier.
- People who insist that you haven't tried something when you say you don't like it. Trust me, I've been force fed green beans enough time in my life to know that they are nasty.
- People who think that they're funny when they're actually rude/mean/nasty/racist/sexist/genderist/ignorant.
That reminds me...
And now, a rant about Team Umizoomi!
For anyone who doesn't frequently hang out with preschoolers, Team Umizoomi is a show on Nick Jr. that focuses on building basic math skills and problem solving. Normally, I am all about those things, especially with little kids because let's face it, when it comes to math and science, America sucks. Anyway, here's a video of their opening, so you can get a feel for what it's like:
All in all, it's not a bad show. But there's a couple of things that bother me. First off, the little girl is the one who has the ability to change the design on her clothes to reflect other designs and patterns, like from going to polka dots to flowers. Why can't the little boy do that? Also, the little boy has a tool belt with shapes on it that he can use to build things that they need to solve whatever mission they're on. Why can't the little girl do that? The last thing that bothers me isn't quite as big as the first two, but it's still a teeny issue. The third character, that green robot thing, has what they call a "belly screen" that they use to watch videos of people who need their help. Besides the fact that this is a little weird, it's also making a teeny tiny crack at middle aged men. The robot is obviously older than the other two, and he's voiced by a middle aged man. So are they trying to insinuate that middle aged men have big bellies? He even sticks out his gut and wiggles it around when he's getting as message. Other than the gender/age issues, the show is halfway decent, and like I said before, we need better math skills in this country as a whole. I guess nothing's as perfect as Sesame Street.
Mmm.... I'm getting tired. It's been a long day of babysitting 1 year old twins. They were a lot of fun, but wow were they exhausting! I don't know how their parents do it all the time. Then I had to work more on Katie's slideshow for her graduation party. Holy crap, that thing is a beast! I've done the years 1995-2002, and my mom did 1992-1994. So far we're pushing 300 pictures, and you know that as time goes on, there's more pictures in each year, especially once we got digital cameras in my family! Guess what I'm working on tomorrow...

"Giving birth is like taking your lower lip and forcing it over your head." - Carol Burnett
My friend Phil had to remind me last night that I need to behave like a lady. I'm understanding what he means now.
Anywhoodles, I still have stuff to do before Mike's dinner tonight. So I'm giving you the gift of YouTube/song once again!
This song was a free download several months ago... it's completely fitting! My favorite line is "I'm getting drunk as a skunk and throwing up in the sink!" only because I did that at my friend Hilary's 21st birthday party. Someone cut in front of me in line for the bathroom, and it was either the sink or the floor. The sink always wins!

this one's has a healthy dose of snark in it...
Happy Saturday! Actually, that's a bit of a lie, but just a little bit. Today was a decent day, until I went shopping. I hate shopping sometimes, and today was one of those times. First of all, the mall on a Saturday is a breeding ground for idiots that I just don't have the patience for AT ALL. So the stupid people annoyed me, plus I was clothes shopping for summer/the Western Trip, and that was just a stressful and traumatic experience. If it was socially acceptable for me to do so, I would be perfectly comfortable wearing old athletic shorts and t-shirts wherever I went, at least until I lose some weight. But it's not, so I had to buy clothes. Also, I bought a swimsuit for the first time in four years. Let me tell you, it's hard to find a one piece swimsuit that doesn't make you look like a middle aged woman from the early 90's. Do the fashion people just not update their one piece swimsuit repertoire EVER? There was gaudy colors, gaudy colors, and my personal favorite, the swim skirt. NO THANK YOU. Thankfully, I grabbed the one and only swimsuit that didn't look completely horrible, tried it on, and it fit as well as a swimsuit will fit someone who wishes she could have as many plastic surgeries as Heidi Montag.
After that lovely experience, my morale for the day was basically shot. Mass pissed me off today to. If your child can't shut the hell up, then take them out, or put them in a cage. I don't really give a damn, but don't cause more noise! Also, I realize that the evening Mass is supposed to be modern music or whatever, but it SUCKS. If you're going to have two flutes playing together, TUNE THEM.
Oh, and on my day of complete and awful horribleness that was Thursday, I apparently stressed myself out so much that I chomped down on my tongue multiple times without realizing it. So now I have lots of little cuts all over my tongue. Do you know what's painful to eat/drink when you have cuts on your tongue? Communion, Chips Ahoy cookies, spaghetti (it's really the sauce that got me), chicken sandwiches, pickles, orange juice, pizza, breadsticks, basically anything with salt, flavor, or anything that's slightly crunchy. So now I'm on a regimen of frequent rinsing my mouth with mouthwash, and it seems to be helping a little. This was not the best time for this. Although I supposed the Western trip would be worse, this sucks too. But I have graduation foods to be eating in the upcoming week! Mmmm... I love graduation cake! And since Mike's birthday is Tuesday, we are going to be having cake coming out of our ying yangs. All in all, we have 2 1/4 sheet cakes coming into our house in the next week. Marie Antoinette would have a field day.
Dammit, I'm hungry now. Anyway, I spent part of last night and a little bit this evening researching songs from The Sims 3. DO NOT JUDGE ME. If you're unfamiliar with the game, your little Simmies can have radios, and in TS3 they can even have a favorite genre of music (I usually pick electronic or indie). In the options for the game, you can listen to samples of the music that your Sims listen to (in Simlish, which is their made-up language). As it turns out, a lot of the music they use is by real musical artists who are usually up and comers, and they have English (or in Nelly Furtado's case, Spanish) versions of their songs that are included in the game. So I bought a bunch of them on iTunes. There's also 7 songs that come with the game in the "Custom Music" station, and they're already in English. There's a way to extract those songs out for free (I forget how), but the other ones you can't. Anyway, this is the playlist I've created:
I can't decide which one I like more... it's like choosing your favorite child (pick me, Mom!). So you tell me, which NAUGHTY HAIKU you like more!
Fin.

I blame the rain for this one...
- I have burned my tongue somehow in the last 24 hours or so. I don't remember burning it, or possibly biting it very hard, but since after dinner last night, it's felt funny. Like how when you burn your tongue on a hot drink, there's that weird smooth spot where you've burned off some taste buds. It's not a good feeling, and it hurts. I blame the chicken... mostly because I have nothing else to blame.
- I worked out this morning for the first time since I started my now old job. It felt GOOD. First of all, I woke up very angry this morning because I realized that all of the apologetic feelings I had yesterday are complete bullshit. So what did I do? I biked my ass off, figuratively and hopefully literally. I love biking when I'm really pissed off at the world. Almost as much as I love blasting Linkin Park on my car stereo when it's sunny AND I'm pissed off at the world.
- Speaking of la voiture, the nice people at Firestone called this afternoon with good news! They were able to fix my car by giving me an oil change and using a heavier oil (a 10 something versus a 5 something) and that was enough to not trip the low oil pressure detector thing in my car. Apparently even with the old oil in, it wasn't actually low enough to cause problems, but it was lower. So they gave me the oil change for free since it was related to a previous problem they had supposedly fixed, and then they noticed that I needed new wiper blades, so they installed a new pair. All in all, I got a repaired car, an oil change, and new wiper blades for $32! It was a very good day. Now I just need to get the paint chip issue fixed.
- I felt like purging again today, so I uninstalled all of my The Sims 3 games and custom content and then reinstalled the game. Now I have no saved families, no custom content, and I freed up a lot of space on my hard drive. It's hard once you install custom content to tell if it's something you're going to really use a lot or not. And even then, it's almost impossible to go back and find the correct files if it's something you don't want. I've had the game for almost a year, so I thought it was a good time for this.
- I miss last summer in a very weird way. I hated the last bit of it, but in a lot of ways, I liked it. I was free to do what I wanted, when I wanted (unless I had class or work). But I didn't have to say where I was going or for how long. And I could eat what I wanted when I wanted. I miss my green tea and my Diet V8 Splash! And my multigrain bread! Mmmm... tasty!
- I am a human emotional yo-yo. Part of me is like this: "FIND A GOOD MAN. FALL IN LOVE. GET MARRIED. MAKE BABIES. RAISE CHILDREN. BECOME MIDDLE AGED."
And the other part of me is like this: "GET YOUR MASTER'S. MOVE TO D.C. BECOME AN AWESOME LIBRARIAN IN THE LIBRARY OF CONGRESS. FIND A GOOD MAN WHO ISN'T INTIMIDATED BY YOUR OBVIOUS INTELLECTUAL PROWESS. IGNORE HIM FOR YOUR JOB. MAKE HIM FALL IN LOVE WITH YOU BECAUSE YOU IGNORED HIM. GET MARRIED. KEEP WORKING. HAVE ONE CHILD WHEN YOU'RE APPROACHING 40. BECOME MIDDLE AGED."
I know, obviously one of these sounds more fun than the other. But I have a very strong maternal instinct, and although I love learning and being viewed as an intelligent human being, I want to be a mom, and I want to be a mom at a young enough age to have the energy to deal with kids. I wish that I could do everything, or that I could hit a pause button on the progression of time so that I wouldn't have to stress over not being able to do everything. I am all about equality, but this is just one of those things that guys will never have to deal with, and I hate them for that. I hate that if I want to find a husband, I have to do it when I'm young and pretty, because no one wants an older woman. Cougar material I am not. But guys can wait until they're 40 because even then they'll still be able to snag some ho-bag of a 22 year-old coed. It's horribly unfair.
Unfortunately, since I have no man at my side, my decision's been made for me. It just scares me that there are gorgeous, intelligent, young women who aren't much older than me who aren't even dating, let alone finding the man of their dreams. What if I never get married? Scoff if you want, but I don't want to die alone. I know I have my "My Best Friend's Wedding" pact with Phil, but marrying your gay best friend is very different than marrying your best friend who you love. I want the latter. I keep trying to force myself into a situation where I date someone and then I try to make them my best friend, but it doesn't work that way. You're supposed to want to be around that person the majority of the time. Where is my person?

this one's a rambler! reel her in!
At the incessant prodding of my dearlingest, darlingest younger sister, I'm writing again in the same week! Woo! I thought about making an organized entry about each of the links on the side, but I've decided that you should just look at them because they're all awesome. 'Nuff said.
And then she turns off of the road of normalcy and onto the foottrail of insanity...
Hi again! Time for some rambling! So here's the dillyo: remember about a week ago when I said that I needed to hire to people to fix my life? It turns out that my sister actually has some of those people. We were talking earlier and we noticed that we both refer to our doctors by the body parts they fix (Dr. Tummy, Dr. Brain, Dr. Foot, Dr. Vagina, etc.). I mean really, who has the time to keep track of their names? You know what they need to fix and generally as they're poking and prodding at that body part, you remember what they look like. So even though my podiatrist's name is Dr. Mehl, he will always be Dr. Foot to me because I remember the intense amount of pain he caused my foot. Yes, I have a podiatrist. Yes, I am quite possibly the youngest patient in that office. No, I am not a Golden Buckeye. Katie also pointed out that when she refers to Dr. Brain as Dr. Brain to people outside our family, they think she's insane. She's not insane (at least not from that.... HAHAHA I LUFF YOU PUGGLE!), but about a year and a half ago she was diagnosed with intercranial hypertension aka pseudotumors. Basically the pressure in her brain is off and it builds up in certain areas (like in her case, on her optical nerve) and it causes the brain to think that it has tumors. Fun stuff.
Why do I feel like I'm constantly blogging about doctors? I feel like my Grandma. I know! I'll tell you all about my experience with the other end of the spectrum of life today! I babysat the world's cutest baby! I love how babies smell. It's like formula and powder and laundry detergent all rolled into one chubby package. As much as I like the preschool age, babies are a thousand times easier in some ways. Also, girls>boys. BY FAR. I hope I don't have more than one boy someday when I grow up. They are rambunctious and they always want to take off their clothes. I don't understand that one. Little girls never want to show off their privates. It's like males are chemically told to boast about their (little) man bits from an early age. Therefore, boys are dumb. GIRL POWER!
I love HGTV. I don't know if I've mentioned that before, but I could (and have) watch(ed) that channel for hours on end. I love love love House Hunters, especially when it's rich Southerners. I've decided that if I can't be black, I want to be a rich Southerner. I want to live in a giant house in Mobile or San Antonio or Atlanta and I want to sit in my air conditioned bonus room and drink a mint julep while I watch the kiddies play in the pool. Actually, HGTV is good when I'm babysitting too, because if the kids wake up and wander down to the room where the TV is, I never run a risk of there being something not appropriate for them to see/hear. Honestly, is there any show on MTV or E! that's below TV-14? Doubtful. But with HGTV, I'm learning life skills (like that wallpaper and paint can be easily fixed, but it's much more difficult to add on another room) and I get to look at pretty houses while I'm in a pretty house! Houses have always fascinated me. When I was little, I would draw out floorplans on drawing paper, even showing where the furniture would go. And look at me playing The Sims 1, 2, and 3 for the last decade! My favorite part (other than torturing people) is building and decorating houses!
I feel like this is a sufficient post to satisy Katie's bitching. Plus, my sketchy-ass internet has died on me about four times while writing this, so I'm going to go now before I lose my ramblings. Wouldn't that be sad, right? RIGHT?

I get by with a little help from my friends
I've been a bad blogger. Honestly, I haven't had anything to write about. I could write about some of my babysitting adventures, but I haven't had a sit since last Friday. I realized today when I went to pick up Katie at school that I hadn't left the house since I got home from babysitting last Friday. Yeah. That's five days without leaving the house. I didn't even make it to Mass. And the scary part is that it didn't phase me at all. I guess when I want to leave, I want to go somewhere fantastic, which isn't Worthington, Ohio in early February. Oh well. I have a job again tomorrow morning. For the first time a family actually requested me! It's like I've made it to the other side. Too bad it's at 8:30 in the morning and it's half an hour away when it isn't rush hour traffic. But it's money, and I need money, I guess. Sometimes I wish bartering was still around. Like, here grad school, take this chicken as payment! Here you go evil student loan people, I have about 262,384,049 articles of clothing that don't fit and my sister has deemed 'uncool'!
This had a point, I promise.
Actually, who am I kidding? There's no point to this. I contemplated for about half a second making a productive entry about my favorite black people (because let's face it, sometimes I just want to join the club!) but in the end, that just seems like too much work and I want to be asleep before midnight so I don't show angry Christine to the kiddies tomorrow.
I really should get in the practice of waking up early again. But when you can't get to sleep until 2:30 AM, it's very hard. Last summer, I woke up at 10 if I worked at noon, and if I worked at 8 AM, I woke up at 7 and ate breakfast at work. Then when I moved home, I was waking up at about 9. But gradually 9 became 9:30 and today it wasn't until 10 that I could drag my sorry ass out of bed. My mom I guess woke me up, reminded me to get up, took a shower, checked on me again, and I had fallen back asleep. And last night was an early bedtime of 1:30! Also, it's hard for me to sleep now without listening to the thunderstorm track I have on my iTunes. Yup, I'm cool.
I know what I can do to make this productive! I'm going to make a list of the people I will need to employ if I want to fix everything that is wrong in my life!
Christine's List of "Special Helpers"
1. Personal Trainer - Yes, while I did in fact lose one whole pound this week (no clue how), I still have about a million pounds to go until I like myself again. And I don't think I'm fat enough to go on The Biggest Loser.
2. Professional Organizer - While I can maintain an organized space, organizing 11 years of crap is not something I can do. I'm not even sure what exactly is on one side of my closet because I haven't been able to get to it since before I went to college. Plus I bet my parents would love to be able to park their van in the garage again.
3. Therapist - I'm totally not past that mental breakdown point. I just cry now. Half the time I'm not even sure why. And while it's not just me in my family, I am probably one of the bigger culprits of acting insane. By insane I mean that I go from being ridonkulous to sobbing in 2.5 seconds. Methinks there's an issue here.
4. Life Coach - So I know now that I want to be a librarian, but I still feel like I need a little bit of guidance in this department. Basically I've lost the ability to have any confidence in the decisions I make, and I need CONSTANT reassurance that I made the right choice. Let's face it, so far my track record hasn't been great. I picked a major based on an activity I enjoyed in high school and a preconcieved notion that I would oust Mr. Renzi of a job. Then I dated the same guy for entirely too long because I was afraid that my family would be mad at me after dumping him a second time (because I distinctly remember them being upset with me after dumping him the first time). So if someone could help me see what I'm supposed to be doing with my life, that would be great. Maybe I could take up crafts, just like Paris Gellar.
5. Stylist - I can't buy clothes for myself. There. I said it. I can pick out clothes for other people with no problem, but when it comes to myself, I always resort to the same old tired looks. I have zero creativity in my outfits. Also, I don't do much with my hair. I now consider it to be an effort if I have to blow dry it all the way, so I just do a half-assed job. Sometimes I'll straighten it. If I'm feeling spunky. Perhaps the stylist and the professional organizer can team up and help me get rid of all of the crappy clothes/shoes I've accumulated through the years.
I suppose that finding a sugar daddy should also be on this list so I can pay for all these people, but I have a funny feeling that Ms. Life Coach wouldnt' approve.

This Isn't How I Wanted 2010 To Start

Neil O’Donnell age 78, of Grove City, passed away Wednesday, December 30, 2009 at Mt. Carmel Medical Center. Neil was born April 23, 1931 in New Kensington, PA. Neil was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church, Grove City Lions Club and a volunteer literacy tutor. He was a US Army Veteran, stationed in Austria during the Korean War, serving in the signal corps. He retired after 39 years from the Federal Aviation Administration as a radar technician. Neil was a devoted husband, father and grandfather, and will be sorely missed. He delighted in the company of his children and grandchildren. His grandchildren loved spending time with their Papa. He was known for his wit, humor and generosity. Preceded in death by his wife of 52 years Lorraine Marie O’Donnell; daughter Bridget A. O’Donnell; son-in-law Bill Brotherton; brother Owen O’Donnell; sisters Mary O’Donnell, Nora Jean Stephenson and Gracie Sell. Survivors include son Tim (Sue) O’Donnell; daughters Erin (Dan) Stout and Amy Brotherton; brother Johnny O’Donnell, brother-in-law John Nigon and his grandchildren Amanda and Danny Stout, Megan, Emily and Katie Brotherton, Christine, Mike and Katie O’Donnell; nieces, nephews and dear friends. Friends may visit on Sunday, January 3, 2010 from 2-5 PM at THE SPENCE-MILLER FUNERAL HOME 2697 Columbus St. Grove City. Funeral service will be held 1:00 PM Monday at Bethel Lutheran Church 4501 Hoover Rd. Grove City. Pastor Peter Ray officiating. Interment Concord Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Bethel Lutheran Church in Neil’s memory.
Like it says, NOT how I wanted 2010 to start. My coping mechanisms this time have varied. NCIS helps, but for some reason, I just haven't watched it as much. Right now I'm watching a lot of Friends, and acting like a psychopath. Also, I'm either barely sleeping, or I have nighttime comas.
Moving right along... I'm starting to babysit for a sitting company again. ChaCha is great, but I need some money NOW. With the whole points earning system, how much I earn a month varies, and I don't get it until a month later. Which isn't such a big deal if you think about it because lots of regular jobs have a 2 week delay on their paychecks. Whatevs. My parents don't believe that ChaCha is a job, which is frigging frustrating. If I'm working, I need to be able to work without interruption. And even though it's a work at home job, it's still a job that I signed up to do. People count on me. AND OH EM GEE I DON'T WANT TO OFF MYSELF WHILE I'M WORKING! That's a big step for me.
Speaking of working, I need to sign up for some sitting jobs and then get back to ChaCha-ing. I promise, I won't abandon you 2.5 readers for so long ever again. *mucks*

two peas in a pod
My All-Time Favorite TV Couples! (In no particular order)
1. Casey and Cappie - Greek
They are just too friggin cute together! I think it'll be interesting to see if/how they've changed when Greek comes back in a couple of months. We've heard all about them dating freshmen year, but all we've seen so far is the random hook-up. Good stuff.2. Jesse and Rebecca - Full House
I'm going to give these two the "Hottest Couple" award. If anyone can look gorgeous in shoulder pads, it's Lori Loughlin. And John Stamos... oh baby!3. Monica and Chandler - Friends
Last year when I watched all 10 seasons of Friends (pause for applause...) I always liked these two better than Rachel and Ross. Plus Chandler's good for a laugh and Monica reminds me of myself sometimes.
4. McGee and Abby - NCIS

I'm giving them the "Cutest Geeky Couple" award. Even though they aren't together right now on NCIS, they dated early on, and there's still some hardcore chemistry (read: jealousy) between them!
5. Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar - 18 Kids and Counting

These two are the happiest people I've never met! And they're actual people, not just actors! I really wonder how they stay sane with 18 kids (and counting, haha!) but I think the answer to that question is that they have 18 kids. Bow chicka wow wow.

I have loved Jim and Pam from the first time I watched The Office many moons ago. Thankfully, it would seem that their wedding hasn't caused the fantastic dynamic between office-mates to change too much. Although as of late, Pam has become more and more annoying in my opinion. Yes, your boss dating your mother is weird, but they are both adults, so get over it. And for someone who's 6 months pregnant on the show, she really doesn't look it at all. But you know, I still love them as a couple.

Again, another couple I've loved since the beginning of the show. They clearly bring out the best of each other, even though no one would think to pair scruffy Luke with quirky Lorelai. Thankfully, even after they broke off their engagement and spent most of the seventh season apart, they rekindled their love in the very last episode of the show.
There you have it. I know seven is a weird number, but I couldn't think of anyone else. Jon and Kate Gosselin used to make this list, but considering they're getting divorced and Jon has become the scum of the world, they don't really count. Kate might make my fabulous females list though. Hmmm... maybe that'll be my next list! Hooray for new ideas!

There you have it! I really had to stretch to find 18 names, but if Jim Bob and Michelle really want another 18 kids, they can at least all have J names!

don't judge me, I'm only human! - Chandler Bing
Between playing with a baby bunny most of the day yesterday, and then watching the Duggar grandbaby, I am all about the squishy babies right now.
Yup. I'm completely distracted by Friends right now. So peace out.

I dream of... NCIS?
1. Fatty autopsy
I want Ducky and Palmer to perform an autopsy on someone who is severely overweight. Not just "I ate too much at Thanksgiving dinner" fat, but morbidly obese and in desperate need of a lap-band. Think of it, they slice the person open and then have to dig through mounds of fat! It would be such a challenge! I know all the Hollywood-types are twigs, and Sailors and Marines are physically fit too, but not everyone who's a victim is supposed to be skinny.
2. "It's a dead body... whatevs!"
You know how at the beginning of the episode, you either learn how the murder/crime happened, or you see the person discover that there was a murder/crime? Well, the person who always finds it either screams or looks horrified. Just once, I want the person who finds the body to be like "It's a dead guy. Okay." Or even better, be grotesquely fascinated with it!
3. This is one doodle that can't be undone, home skillet!
Last (for now) I want one of the ladies to have to go through pregnancy on the job. Ziva would be more of a challenge with this, since she's a trained killer and all. But even Abby would be fun, especially if it was McGee's baby! (okay, I know I said no McAbby, but I couldn't help that one) Oh man, and since Gibbs views Abby kind of like the daughter he never had (or rather, had, but lost) this baby would be almost like his pseudo-grandchild! Crazy!
That's my list for now, but you can be sure that if I think of more, I'll post them.
Now for a bit of whining. I hurt. My left shoulder has been cramping, my right hand is sore, can't grip anything, and my inner right elbow hurts too. I can't carry anything in my right hand, which has made general life pretty interesting. Okay, that's all for whining.
Good news! This afternoon my Dad and I went to the Worthington Rec Center and re-signed me up for membership. So now I have someplace to work out! Yay!

working woman?
Enough sadness! As of yesterday, I officially restarted my job hunt. So far, I have nothing. But I do have a list of j0bs that I wouldn't mind.
Jobs That Won't Cause Me To Hate My Life (I Hope):
1. Professional person working for a professional symphony orchestra
2. Music librarian working for a professional symphony orchestra
3. Author
4. Front desk person at a hotel (as long as the hotel is nice and not in a seedy part of town)
5. Daycare person
6. Work for Disney!
7. Work at a bookstore
So we'll have to see how this all works out for me. I do need to find something kinda soon so I can start saving so I can pay back student loans and move out of my parents' house. Plus, I have to start to want to work. Right now, I just don't feel like it. I would be perfectly happy hanging out at home for awhile.
Oh, and I have to lose some weight!! All the food that nice people have dropped off at our house has caused me to gain weight. I don't have a place for my scale in my house, but I can feel it in me that I'm porking up again. Yesterday, my mom jokingly told me to go on a crash diet. I reminded her that while I lost 35 pounds doing that the last time, I also surivived on one meal a day and lots of diet coke. Not really healthy eating at all. The scariest thing is that the last time I remember being happy with how I looked was probably... well, just weight, I liked me my freshman year of high school. But actual physical appearance was my senior year of high school. Ugh. Fail.

step-bitch
I am 22 years old. In the US, the legal drinking age is 21. Therefore, I can have a beer with my pizza, have wine with my burger, and have a rum and coke with my bratwurst and delicious German potato salad! God will not smite me for that! Believe me, there are plenty of other things that I've done that He could criticize me for. That's right, HE could criticize me for, not you as a human being who I've met once in my life. In addition, my parents have done an excellent job raising me! Allowing me to follow US law and drink alcohol doesn't make them bad parents. I would judge you and your parenting skills, but that would be stooping to your level, and I'm better than that.
Oh, and if my 80 year old grandmother wants to dance, she's going to dance. Don't even THINK of trying to tell her that it's sinful. You should just be happy that an 80 year old woman CAN dance!
That being said, I taught my grandma how to dance the macarena at my uncle's birthday party over the weekend. It was pretty funny, especially considering I learned that dance when I was 8.
In the bad news department, Bill got rejected from the Columbus HFH affiliate, and he found in an extremely shady way that Denver isn't rehiring him for next year. So if you're a praying type person, please pray that he finds a job! And if you're not a praying type person, cross your fingers and find a rabbit's foot!
This is my sister's new baby bunny, Rosie!
How freaking adorable is that?!?! I want to squish her! (the bunny, not my sister)
Time to go drink!

kate plus 8... jon plus 8
So as you probably know, I am an avid fan of Jon and Kate Plus 8. That being said, I want the show to go off the air. In tonight's episode, Kate mentioned that she thinks that their divorce would have happened with or without the show. Since she's the one in that relationship, and I'm not, I clearly don't have the background experience, but I have a feeling that it wouldn't have happened without the show. Take a look at their 2 hour TV specials they did before the show started, or at the first season of the show. There's so much love between Jon and Kate at that point! My other problem is that we never hear about them going to marriage counseling. They claimed to be Christian and yet they never mention talking to their minister and getting help. There's nothing wrong in trying to save your marriage. In any case, I feel really bad for those kids. Oh, and I am SICK of E! cashing in on the story. Just because you're an entertainment station, that doesn't give you the right to exploit a family. Ditto to the paparazzi. They probably didn't cause the divorce, but good God leave them alone! That's also why I want the show to go off the air. Some suffering doesn't need to be broadcast.
I guess this just goes to show that money can't buy happiness. Which is why I always choose poor and loved over rich and unhappy on those dumb survey things. I also think that they got married too young, a topic which spurred this blog many moons ago. Getting married at 22 might work out for some people, but it's so early in my opinion. I'm not saying I want to get married at 35 or anything, but you at least need to experience more of life, especially if you went to college, to know if this is really the person you want to be with. Besides, if they really love you, they'll wait... what's the rush? (again, this is on a situational basis... clearly if they're military or if the girl is pregnant, that's a different situation)
Saturday was supposed to be my wedding day, back when I was dating Jeremy. As freshmen in college, we had our lives all planned out. We would both graduate in May/June 2009, then get married on June 20th, 2009 because my grandparents' anniversary is the 21st and my parents' anniversary is the 22nd (today!) and the 20th just happened to fall on a Saturday this year. Now I know that planning four years in advance is foolish, especially with college. Turns out that neither of us graduated when we said we would, or stayed with the careers we wanted to have, and of course, we broke up at the beginning of junior year. Planning is good when you know who you are, what you want to do, and have gotten to experience life a little bit. I do want to get married... someday. Believe me, I am not in any way advocating that people live together as opposed to getting married. I think that's irresponsible.
In other news, Bill has an interview with Habitat for Humanity Columbus on Wednesday... so if you want me to stay in Ohio, cross your fingers!
~ Christine
