Sorry about vanishing there for a bit. I got caught up with job applications (no luck) and finals and stuff. But I'm back now!
So as you probably know, I am an avid fan of Jon and Kate Plus 8. That being said, I want the show to go off the air. In tonight's episode, Kate mentioned that she thinks that their divorce would have happened with or without the show. Since she's the one in that relationship, and I'm not, I clearly don't have the background experience, but I have a feeling that it wouldn't have happened without the show. Take a look at their 2 hour TV specials they did before the show started, or at the first season of the show. There's so much love between Jon and Kate at that point! My other problem is that we never hear about them going to marriage counseling. They claimed to be Christian and yet they never mention talking to their minister and getting help. There's nothing wrong in trying to save your marriage. In any case, I feel really bad for those kids. Oh, and I am SICK of E! cashing in on the story. Just because you're an entertainment station, that doesn't give you the right to exploit a family. Ditto to the paparazzi. They probably didn't cause the divorce, but good God leave them alone! That's also why I want the show to go off the air. Some suffering doesn't need to be broadcast.
I guess this just goes to show that money can't buy happiness. Which is why I always choose poor and loved over rich and unhappy on those dumb survey things. I also think that they got married too young, a topic which spurred this blog many moons ago. Getting married at 22 might work out for some people, but it's so early in my opinion. I'm not saying I want to get married at 35 or anything, but you at least need to experience more of life, especially if you went to college, to know if this is really the person you want to be with. Besides, if they really love you, they'll wait... what's the rush? (again, this is on a situational basis... clearly if they're military or if the girl is pregnant, that's a different situation)
Saturday was supposed to be my wedding day, back when I was dating Jeremy. As freshmen in college, we had our lives all planned out. We would both graduate in May/June 2009, then get married on June 20th, 2009 because my grandparents' anniversary is the 21st and my parents' anniversary is the 22nd (today!) and the 20th just happened to fall on a Saturday this year. Now I know that planning four years in advance is foolish, especially with college. Turns out that neither of us graduated when we said we would, or stayed with the careers we wanted to have, and of course, we broke up at the beginning of junior year. Planning is good when you know who you are, what you want to do, and have gotten to experience life a little bit. I do want to get married... someday. Believe me, I am not in any way advocating that people live together as opposed to getting married. I think that's irresponsible.
In other news, Bill has an interview with Habitat for Humanity Columbus on Wednesday... so if you want me to stay in Ohio, cross your fingers!

sorry, survey
I messed up, and I'm sorry I was being difficult. Almost everyone I know was having a bad day yesterday, and I was one of those people. Maybe it was a full moon? In any case, today is a new day, and even though it'a raining, it's going to be a better day because I won't be spending my entire day filling out job applications and therefore become grouchy.
Good news! My rose plant that I got from Bill for Valentine's day is making a comeback! I bought it some super awesome plant food when Erin and I went shopping for Mo's birthday plant a couple of weeks ago, and it's turning greener now. Still some dead/dying bits of it, but the part that's alive looks amost normal again.
I have an hour until work, and since my direct deposit paycheck thing didn't work this pay period, I didn't go to the store to buy The Sims 3 yet. So I'm awake and bored. Naturally, the best way to cure boredom is to fill out a pointless survey about myself. UGH! So clearly, I copied this from... somewhere, and it's one of those supid surveys where there are large chunks of numbers mising. So either the person answering before me didn't like some of the questions, or the person making it can't count. Fantastic.

shiny pretty things
Ta-da! This is the first entry on my brand new, shiny lappy! The lappy... perfect. Internet Explorer... still sucks. Within my lappy's first 24 hours of being alive and functional, it had 16 additional IE windows open unexpectedly, a Trojan horse attack it when I tried to go to surfthechannel, and Facebook won't let me download the app to upload all my photos at once. Nevertheless, I am in love. It's shiny and pretty and if I wasn't freaking out about getting fingerprints on it, I would kiss it.
Speaking of love, yet again I am a bad girlfriend, for I have neglected to tell what my anniversary/graduation present was from Bill. Partially because I've really enjoyed keeping it all to myself for the last week, partially because I didn't think it was appropriate to lump Captain Hook in the same entry as Bill. Anyway, I got a heart-shaped puzzle box. Exhibit A:
That little peg thing on the bottom left side pulls up and then the top slides off and then the next layer pulls up and SHAZAM! There's a secret hiding spot! (I realize that this sounds like something a 5th grade boy would be excited about, but there's no other good way to put it.) And in the secret hiding spot, there was a love letter from Bill! You read right, a LOVE letter. Not a like letter, not a strong feelings letter, an actual legit love letter telling me he loves me! I'm so happy... if I was a puppy, I'd be peeing on the rug. So yes, Bill loves me, I love him, life is pretty damn good right now. I still miss him a lot though. I'm hopeful about where he'll end up next year, since my parent's house is looking more and more realistic. Growing up right now kind of sucks. Remember when your biggest concern was not getting the Barbie Jeep for Christmas?

Hook
The other day at work, we got into a discussion about what you wouldn't do for $1,000 but you would for $100,000 (we actually do work sometimes, we're just slow right now) and one of the things that was brought up was cutting off limbs, and so naturally the story of Heather Mills being chased in a grocery store, slipping on a puddle spilled milk, and losing her fake leg came up.
http://www.allheadlinenews.com/articles/7015354490
This got me thinking. What about Captain Hook? He's missing a hand! And instead of teaching young-Disney-watching kids that we need to be nice to all people, even if they're missing body parts, we're teaching them that they're evil.

Poor Captain Hook! I guess this is kind of like the ultimate question from Wicked. Is evil something you're born with or is it thrust upon you? If Captain Hook had both of his hands, would he still be evil?
While Google image searching for "Captain Hook", I found this adorable picture.
Does anyone else find it ironic that the baby has both hands, but the costume bunts their legs together?

It's not called retarded anymore, it's mentally handicapped
I watched a season and a half of Full House in the past 48 hours. What is my life becoming? I also took a 4 1/2 hour nap this afternoon. I slept better in that nap than I've slept overnight since I moved into my summer dorm. I feel dumb now though. Is this what cats feel like all the time?
Anyway, I am completely in lust with John Stamos right now.
Exhibit A: John Stamos on Full House

Woah baby! I wonder what the Olsen twins think about him... they're about my age. Is that weird? Actually, what's weirder is that Jodie Sweetin developed a drug problem and Candace Cameron now does inspirational religious lectures across the country. My little sister got to meet her! Jealousss...
Well, this was a fantastically pointless entry and I now feel dumber. Let me know if you do too!
