Why the Royal Wedding is Awesome

This is basically a procrastination technique because I've determined that my essay final is easier than I thought, and instead of having the logical response of, "Get it done now since it won't take long and then you can do other  fun stuff sooner!" I'm having the response of, "It's easy, and it'll still be there in a half hour. I can take a break now!"

Anyway, I've been seeing a lot of hate re: William and Kate's wedding and I'm sick of it. No, they're not our royalty, selfish Americans, but have you forgotten that our country started off as a British colony? And in more modern times, Britain has consistently been an American ally. Besides, people all over the world pay attention to our so-called "important" news and political events. The least we can do is give them the same courtesy.

Now, I know from creeping on Facebook that people are pissed that Lifetime bumped two shows on Easter about the American military to show a documentary about the wedding. And I agree that that's crap. I have zero interest in watching a show about an event that hasn't even happened yet. That wasn't a good choice on their part, especially not a holiday when so many American families are without one or more of their members because they're deployed. What irritates me are the people who are complaining that the press is making a big deal about William and Kate's wedding. Guess what: It is a big deal!

I realize most people who read this are too young to have watched Charles and Diana's wedding, since it happened before I was born. I assure you, that the same hullabaloo happened then that's happening now. And that was a wedding between two people who didn't even like each other that much! By the time Harry was born, they downright hated each other and Charles was cheating on Diana with Camilla. William and Kate are so different. For one thing, they're older. When Diana got married, she had just turned 20! I don't know about you, but when I was 20, I thought my life would be very different than how it's turned out. Not that there's anything wrong with being young and getting married, but Charles and Diana only dated for six months before they got engaged. William and Kate have been dating since 2001 (with a brief break in 2007). I think it's safe to say that they know each other well.  Plus, they're actually in love. Shocking, right? People who are in love get married every day. Princes get married every once in awhile. Princes in love rarely get married.

Even if you don't DVR the wedding (I'm assuming that no one is waking up at 4 AM to watch it live), I at least ask that you be supportive of the marriage. England needs something good to cheer for. Look at the last 100some years of their monarchy. It's filled with scandals and hush hush stories pushed under their rug. We've had our shining moments in America, now it's time for England's turn.

Sunday, May 2, 2010

I'm making up for yesterday's short post...

Sundays are becoming my least favorite day of the week. For one thing, there's the impending doom of the work week starting the next day. Plus Friday and Saturday are (usually) so awesome that Sunday just pales in comparison. And the last two Sundays have had really shitty weather, which wouldn't be so bad if I had anything to do today, but I didn't. Facebook wasn't around to distract me for hours on end, so I just watched hours of Friends. I love Friends, but I really hate it when TV shows end. Usually I cry. Even now, watching the last episode of Full House makes me really depressed, and that show's been off the air for 15 years! (and I repeat: when did I get old?!?) But Friends, oh man. I weep like a little child and I've only seen the last episode twice. That's all I can handle. So yes, in addition to poopy weather and poopy boredom, I had poopy sadness today too.

I'm debating on whether or not I want to attempt online dating again. The last time I was single, I joined a free dating site along with my friends Phil and Liz. They both had lots of success (although it was all temporary) but I only actually met two of the guys from the site. One of them I liked a lot, and we met up a couple of times, but we never made it out of the friend zone, and looking back, that was probably pretty wise. He's a nice guy, but we never had that spark. The other guy wasn't that great. We went out once and he spent the whole date texting his friends to make plans to go sing karaoke afterwards. Not cool. And then a few weeks later when we tried to make plans to go out again, he "got called into work" and after that I kinda gave up on him. Then I started dating Bill and completely forgot about the other guy, until I saw that he had unfriended me on Facebook. Awesome socks. So you can see why I have some reservations.

I re-activated my profile about a week and a half ago, but I haven't changed anything on it, including the part where it says Body Type: Skinny! Hahaha, right? But back then, I could claim myself as a skinny person. It also still has a whole bunch of stuff about how I wanted to be a band director. Yup, I really need to do some updating. But I'm still not 100% sure if I want to start that search again. I miss having someone there for me all of the time, but I'm not going to find that at the start of a new relationship. That's what friends are for. It's weird though, some of the simplest things are what I miss the most. I love having my hand held. I love hugs. Scratch that, I REALLY love hugs. I love how boys smell. I love having someone put their arm around my shoulder. I love snuggling into a boy's chest. But again, most of those things I'm not going to find at the beginning of a new relationship.

While I was looking through my external hard drive yesterday to find the recipe for buffalo chicken dip (that I had mistakenly transferred over there when I moved files a few weeks ago), I found my boyfriend requirements list from the last time I was single. Keep in mind that this was from my junior year of college:

Christine's Boyfriend Requirements (2007 Edition):
- single
- at least straight
- male
- dark brown/black or blonde hair (no redheads!)
- enjoys music
- little body hair (i.e. anything more than a happy trail on the torso is not acceptable. Leg hair is fine. Back hair is not.)
- good teeth (straight and none missing)
- sense of humor
- taller than me (5'7")
- not overweight

Ideally, He Should Also:
- look good in a polo shirt
- be a fan of the Buckeyes, Steelers, and Notre Dame
- be Catholic
- have nice looking feet (no hammertoes)
- be well-dressed and groomed
- have a normal sounding name (nothing too complicated/hard to pronounce)
- be understandable (in all forms of the word)
- sing, play piano, play guitar, or play some string instrument

Some of this is so ridiculous that it makes me laugh. Some of it is still pretty true. Some of it I think I may have been a smidge bit demanding. Anywho, I've decided to revise this list as I am back on the market (by the way, I really hate that phrase because it makes me feel like produce, but it's better than 'back in the saddle').

Christine's Boyfriend Requirements (2010 Edition):
- single
- straight
- male
- have brown or black hair
- be a music lover
- be a physically attractive person
- have a sense of humor
- be taller than me
- be in shape
- be an interesting person to talk to
- be intelligent
- respect women, especially treat his mother well
- be open minded
- have goals for himself
- care about me
- be honest with himself and others
- not have things that need to be fixed (this goes along with the common fact that I tend to date charity cases who either hate themselves, hate the world, or have mental health issues)
- have confidence
- be a fun person to spend time with
- take initiative

I guess you could say that I've upped the ante, but that's the point of dating different people. You're supposed to date people so you know what's important to you in a relationship and what isn't. If you constantly date the same types of people (*shifty eyes*) you're never going to know what you're missing out on.

Moving on... to today's special edition of SLIGHTLY INTOXICATED NAUGHTY HAIKU!

You may notice that this isn't in the usual black and white color scheme. I wrote this particular NAUGHTY HAIKU at Jackie's house last night at approximately 1:30 AM. Different words, different phrases, I had a good time. I'm not entirely sure what the bit about being a bigger boat is really getting at... maybe it's a reference to being the town bicycle? Go sniff some glue after smoking some feelings and let me know!

oodles of babies!

My life never ceases to bore me these days! Let's rewind a bit: After I wrote that last entry, I had one of the worst sitting jobs ever. Still not as bad as the family that abused their cat and punched holes in their bedroom door, but it's up there. Actually, the kids weren't bad. It was their house! Absolute filth doesn't even begin to describe this place. And... weird. Their creepy uncle lurked in his car in the driveway, and the mom had facial stubble and was running a babysitting service out of their house... without telling me ahead of time that I'd be sitting for double the kids. All in all, they've been placed on my "Do Not Sit" list. I came home and for hours afterward, I had an urge to shower repeatedly. Grody.

My sit for last Tuesday ended up being cancelled, which was okay in my book because then I could watch NCIS when it airs (or close to it). Wednesday I didn't have anything line up. Last Thursday's sit was so much fun! They had two little girls and they had just gotten home from a Disney cruise! I was like, you are my people! They LOOOOOVED Disney! They had all of those plastic Disney princess sets where they come in a clear zippered case and they have a couple of different outfits. They had at least all of them, but I think they had multiples of certain sets. Oh, and we watched The Jungle Book 2, which wasn't too bad for a Disney sequel.

Friday's sit was another easy one. The girls were school age, and I waited at the house until they got off the bus. Their housekeeper was there for the beginning of the sit, and she pissed me off, but she left after about an hour. The girls went to a neighbor's house to play outside (because it was GORGEOUS!) and so the housekeeper and I chatted while she cleaned. When I told her I wanted to be a librarian, she laughed and said, "Why would anyone ever want to do that?" First of all, any other time that I tell people that's what I want to do, they say, "Oh, I know so-and-so who did that and loved it too!" So clearly there are other people who want to do that. Second, I JUST FUCKING TOLD YOU THAT I WANT TO DO THAT. Use an ounce of common sense, idiot. So I told her that I like books, and then she goes, "Oh, well that makes sense for you then." Right blondie, you've never cracked open a book because otherwise you wouldn't be 27 years old and cleaning houses. She did graduate from OU with a business degree, but she hated her business job. I do have a newly discovered respect for people with college degrees who have shitty jobs right now, but when you start to criticize my future plans after you just met me, I lose all respect.

Saturday's sit was another good one! The dad accidentally backed into my car when they were leaving and left a dent on my trunk, but other than that, it was super easy. The little boy was incredibly fun to play with, and he told me that I was a good woman because I'm good at catching things when he threw them at me. He went to bed at 9, and the parents were supposed to come home at 11:30, but they came home an hour early and then paid me double what they were supposed to (guilt...). They're also paying for my car to be fixed. It's really not a big dent, but my dad says it cold rust if I don't get it fixed, and I really need this car to last.

I don't remember Sunday. I know that's probably not a good thing, but I don't.

Monday, I drove to UD. Kent State STILL hadn't received my letter of recommendation from Dr. Reynolds as of Friday, so I drove over to UD on Monday to hand deliver a new form to him so he could resend it. They had granted me a teeny extension when I explained what happened. He mailed it at the beginning of March, and for some unknown reason, it just wasn't being delivered. But I was still under a time crunch. I still might not be eligible for an assistantship because you have to be accepted to the program by April 1st, so keep your fingers crossed! For awhile this past weekend, I wasn't even sure if I would be able to go to grad school. Lo and behold, when I got home Monday afternoon, I logged on the admissions page, and my letter from Reynolds had been received! So I drove for no reason, but I did get to have my extremely belated lunch with Jen, which was awesome. I really miss living with her. Sometimes I wonder how we were able to accomplish anything last year because we are both so chatty, especially around each other!

My sit yesterday was my favorite by far. I was greeted at the door by a Columbus cop. As it turns out, he and his wife are both cops, but she works for ODNR as a boat cop. Anyway, he works second shift, so he had to leave before the kids came home from school. The kids were so cute! It was like I was looking at copies of my brother and I 15 years ago. They go to Catholic school, live in a smallish house, and they are incredibly proud of their parents. It's funny, I think those two are the first people I've met who have a parent or parents who are police officers. I wrote about this for one of my college admissions essays, but growing up with a parent as a cop is a very different experience. I'm not quite sure what to compare it to, but I guess it's similar to having a military parent, but without all of the... I don't want to say exclusivity, because that's kinda negative, but it's the only word I can think of. When you have a military parent, you get labeled as an army brat, or whatever branch of service. A cop's kids don't have that. But in a lot of ways, it's very similar. Police officers and military both risk their lives every day to protect their country/state/city. And while you don't move around much (or at all) with a parent as a cop, there is a certain aspect of life that other people have a hard time understanding. Being a cop is so much more than a job, or even a career. It's like a lifestyle. If my dad wasn't a cop, we wouldn't have had to change our phone number when I was little because someone my dad arrested found us in the phone book, and called our house and threatened my mom. After that, we haven't been listed in the phone book. My family and I will never be called to serve as jurors on a case if we get called up for jury duty because in the eyes of the court, we are biased. And many of you know about my "Get Out of Jail Free" card. But that's just an added bonus.

It really is something that's hard to explain. But there's weird bond between cop's children that I haven't experienced, until yesterday. Those kids were so proud of their parents and it really was like looking in a mirror.

Anyway, today I have some shopping to do for my trip. We leave on Friday! I'm so excited... one week from today I'll be in NYC, chowing down on a Magnolia cupcake.

two peas in a pod

I'm the kind of person who keeps their promises. So here's my promise to all 2.5 of you! (I really should get a site meter thing so I can see how many people actually look at this page.)

My All-Time Favorite TV Couples! (In no particular order)

1. Casey and Cappie - Greek

They are just too friggin cute together! I think it'll be interesting to see if/how they've changed when Greek comes back in a couple of months. We've heard all about them dating freshmen year, but all we've seen so far is the random hook-up. Good stuff.

2. Jesse and Rebecca - Full House

I'm going to give these two the "Hottest Couple" award. If anyone can look gorgeous in shoulder pads, it's Lori Loughlin. And John Stamos... oh baby!

3. Monica and Chandler - Friends

Last year when I watched all 10 seasons of Friends (pause for applause...) I always liked these two better than Rachel and Ross. Plus Chandler's good for a laugh and Monica reminds me of myself sometimes.

4. McGee and Abby - NCIS

I'm giving them the "Cutest Geeky Couple" award. Even though they aren't together right now on NCIS, they dated early on, and there's still some hardcore chemistry (read: jealousy) between them!

5. Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar - 18 Kids and Counting

These two are the happiest people I've never met! And they're actual people, not just actors! I really wonder how they stay sane with 18 kids (and counting, haha!) but I think the answer to that question is that they have 18 kids. Bow chicka wow wow.

6. Jim and Pam - The Office

I have loved Jim and Pam from the first time I watched The Office many moons ago. Thankfully, it would seem that their wedding hasn't caused the fantastic dynamic between office-mates to change too much. Although as of late, Pam has become more and more annoying in my opinion. Yes, your boss dating your mother is weird, but they are both adults, so get over it. And for someone who's 6 months pregnant on the show, she really doesn't look it at all. But you know, I still love them as a couple.

7. Luke and Lorelai - Gilmore Girls

Again, another couple I've loved since the beginning of the show. They clearly bring out the best of each other, even though no one would think to pair scruffy Luke with quirky Lorelai. Thankfully, even after they broke off their engagement and spent most of the seventh season apart, they rekindled their love in the very last episode of the show.

There you have it. I know seven is a weird number, but I couldn't think of anyone else. Jon and Kate Gosselin used to make this list, but considering they're getting divorced and Jon has become the scum of the world, they don't really count. Kate might make my fabulous females list though. Hmmm... maybe that'll be my next list! Hooray for new ideas!

adventures in bunny-sitting

A series of unfortunate events has led me to where I am right now, which is sitting on our family room floor with my sister's rabbit, Rosie, in a laundry basket next to me.

1. I don't have to work today - hooray!
2. I believe I ate something yucky at Bob Evans yesterday, leaving me with a tummyache today and zero desire to do anything.
3. Back in August, we called the asphalt guys to come out and resurface our driveway. Guess when they finally decided to show up! Today!
4. It's cold out, even for bunnies. So we moved Rosie into the garage for winter a few days ago.
5. Outside our garage is our driveway (duh) which now smells very strongly of fresh asphalt. The smell wafted into our garage, which is now Rosie's home. So we've moved her inside so the smell doesn't bother her.

So here I am, hanging out with my bunny-niece. She's pretty freaking adorable. I've already taken lots of pictures, and a vew videos too. She started licking me earlier, so I grabbed my videocamera with my free hand (unfortunately it was my left) and started filming.

What does it mean when a bunny licks your hand? She seems to be getting a big kick out of this!

Ahhh, too distracted to keep writing... I'll probably write another NCIS entry tonight.

- Good Ziva.

- Now hug her!
- I still say Vance reminds me of Obama.
- Awkward.
- McRomeo! ANOTHER ONE!
- Ziva's here... and bearing an Easter lily?
- YAAAY!

- Blogs and dogs next week? WOO HOO!

Okay, that's all for now. Time to write!

*blink*

I did this when Uncle Bill died, so now I'm going to do it again.

Lorraine Marie O'Donnell
O'DONNELL Lorraine Marie O'Donnell, age 84, of Grove City, passed away Friday, July 17, 2009 at Riverside Methodist Hospital. Lorraine was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church, and was a well known piano teacher in Grove City. She worked in Washington D.C. for the Navy Dept. during WW II. She cherished her role as a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Preceded in death by her daughter Bridget A. O'Donnell. Lorraine was survived by her husband of 52 years, Neil O'Donnell; son, Tim (Sue) O'Donnell; daughters, Erin (Dan) Stout and Amy Brotherton; brother, John Nigon; and her grandchildren, Amanda and Danny Stout, Megan, Emily and Katie Brotherton, Christine, Mike and Katie O'Donnell; nieces, nephews and dear friends. Friends may visit on Sunday from 2-5 p.m. at THE SPENCE-MILLER FUNERAL HOME, 2697 Columbus St., Grove City. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Monday at Bethel Lutheran Church, 4501 Hoover Rd., Grove City. Pastor Peter Ray officiating. Interment Concord Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Bethel Lutheran Church in Lorraine's memory. Online guestbook at http://www.spencemillerfuneralhome.com/

Okay, now that that's over with... just when you think things couldn't get any worse, they probably will. Remember that.

Monday evening after we came home from Nana's funeral, we got a call from my Grandma saying that my Grandpa had fallen down the basement stairs and was unconscious. Presently, he's in the ICU with a broken neck. The good news is that he didn't have a stroke like the originally suspected. The bad news is that he broke the top two vertebrae in his neck, and things aren't looking good for him to be mobile again. It's not impossible, but at his age, it's unlikely. He's got a huge gash in his head, and he's on a ventilator. Needless to say, things are pretty tense in my family right now. So again, if you're a praying person, please pray for us. And if you're not... think good thoughts.

Throughout all of this, I almost forgot the REALLY good news! Bill got the job in Dayton! Yaaay! I really am happy for him, but I'm not doing well with feelings right now, and if I wasn't so upset about everything else, I'm sure I'd be much happier. There are only so many feelings a girl can handle at once.

Did you know that you can hurt your eyes from crying too much? I've experienced it firsthand. Thankfully, I haven't cried yet today, but I said that yesterday and then I came home from visting Grandpa in the hospital and I sobbed for a good ten minutes. I'm tired all the time. Not even kidding, all I've done since 12:15 today is watch NCIS. Thanks to Katie, it's my new obsession. It's actually a pretty strange show for someone who's just buried a grandmother to enjoy so much... about every case involves a dead person. But somehow, it's helping me. It's so involved and intense that it keeps my mind off of things. It's also helpful that I've developed a bit of a crush of McGee. It's that whole hot nerd computer thing. Reminds me of Bill. I'm watching the episodes online in order, but there's been a marathon on USA all day today. It's like a double dose!

I need to eat... I haven't had an appetite yet, but I still get queasy if I don't eat.

loverrrrr(s)

I have two new lovers. Their names are Michael Bublé and Josh Groban. Don't judge.

I love a good singing male voice. But it has to be good. Not just an "Oh, I love him and he's singing to me, which is sweet, so that makes it good." NOPE. Call me a musical snob, but that doesn't count. I want a genuinely good, preferrably classically trained voice. Once upon a time, an ex-boyfriend sang to me a song he had written for me. This falls under the category of things that SOUND romantic and sweet, but in actuality, are incredibly uncomfortable.

Anyway, after using iTunes for almost 4 years, I'm finally going through and rating my music, all 5354 songs of it! It's taking forever, but in the meantime, I'm rediscovering music I had forgotten about. Plus I'm getting good ideas for playlists I want to make once I'm done rating.

Through this process, I've discovered Michael and Josh, and the three of us are getting along quite swimmingly. Though they're no Bill, together they make a halfway decent substitute for when I'm feeling lonely. Which right now, is a lot. I told Bill the other day at Graeter's that I would probably be the worst Army wife in the world because everytime he leaves, I shut down emotionally. Either I start to pull away before he even leaves so I don't have to deal with the pain, or I sob uncontrollably. In both situations, it's not healthy, and definately something I couldn't deal with on a regular basis. It hasn't even been a full year yet of being long distance and I can't stand it. I quite honestly don't know how military spouses do it. So kudos to them for being much stronger than I am!

So I can't stand the girl living in the room next to me. I don't even know who she is, but she's a little diva and I can't handle her. She keeps knocking on my closet at night or in the mornings when I have the TV on, and it's completely unjustified. I really don't have the TV on loud at all, and besides, it's a DORM. Not the Hyatt. It's going to be a little noisy. So suck it up and deal with it. Besides... there have been louder noises coming from my room!

I meant my music... what were YOU thinking? Pervs... haha.

Anyway, I'm plotting my revenge on her. I plan on leaving my TV on all weekend when I'm gone, so that there's no one around to turn it down when she raps on the wall. Mwhahaha. Last night I was watching Frasier, and she knocked, so I turned it down. THEN THE BITCH KNOCKED AGAIN. So I turned it down again, and then I realized it was now so quiet that I couldn't hear it anymore, so I just gave up and turned it off. This kind of stuff has been going on all summer. Once she knocked when I was blow drying my hair in the morning before work. HELLO, it's a blowdryer! What does the girl expect? I'm SERIOUSLY suprised she didn't knock all weekend... I mean... yeah. So now I just need to find the most obnoxious TV channel to leave my TV on when I leave Friday morning. I'm thinking either MTV or VH1. And if the bia knocks again, I'm just going to knock back. In triplets. Suck on that!

guac makes me sleepy

Brenda told me I needed to update again. So... here I am!

Let's see... my time at UD is coming to an end. I'm kinda bummed. It seems like my end of my college life is anticlimatic. Don't get me wrong, I fully intend on crying when I leave for good. Maybe it's because I'm not sure when I have to move... again. I'm starting to think that I'm cursed. Anyway, moving home is going to be weird. I have so much stuff! I'm not ready to bring all of my "college stuff" home and mix it in with my "home stuff". Hopefully my time at home will be short and I'll find a job somewhere soon!

Good news! Bill has a second interview with the Dayton/Troy HFH affiliate and he has an interview with the Cleveland HFH affiliate! I'm not sure if it was the praying, or the rabbit's feet, but it worked! Whatever you did, keep it up! Hopefully he gets one of these jobs.

Speaking of Bill, it's his last night here and we're watching his movie right now (later comes my movie!) so I better get going!

sorry, survey

I messed up, and I'm sorry I was being difficult. Almost everyone I know was having a bad day yesterday, and I was one of those people. Maybe it was a full moon? In any case, today is a new day, and even though it'a raining, it's going to be a better day because I won't be spending my entire day filling out job applications and therefore become grouchy.

Good news! My rose plant that I got from Bill for Valentine's day is making a comeback! I bought it some super awesome plant food when Erin and I went shopping for Mo's birthday plant a couple of weeks ago, and it's turning greener now. Still some dead/dying bits of it, but the part that's alive looks amost normal again.

I have an hour until work, and since my direct deposit paycheck thing didn't work this pay period, I didn't go to the store to buy The Sims 3 yet. So I'm awake and bored. Naturally, the best way to cure boredom is to fill out a pointless survey about myself. UGH! So clearly, I copied this from... somewhere, and it's one of those supid surveys where there are large chunks of numbers mising. So either the person answering before me didn't like some of the questions, or the person making it can't count. Fantastic.

shiny pretty things

Ta-da! This is the first entry on my brand new, shiny lappy! The lappy... perfect. Internet Explorer... still sucks. Within my lappy's first 24 hours of being alive and functional, it had 16 additional IE windows open unexpectedly, a Trojan horse attack it when I tried to go to surfthechannel, and Facebook won't let me download the app to upload all my photos at once. Nevertheless, I am in love. It's shiny and pretty and if I wasn't freaking out about getting fingerprints on it, I would kiss it.

Speaking of love, yet again I am a bad girlfriend, for I have neglected to tell what my anniversary/graduation present was from Bill. Partially because I've really enjoyed keeping it all to myself for the last week, partially because I didn't think it was appropriate to lump Captain Hook in the same entry as Bill. Anyway, I got a heart-shaped puzzle box. Exhibit A:

That little peg thing on the bottom left side pulls up and then the top slides off and then the next layer pulls up and SHAZAM! There's a secret hiding spot! (I realize that this sounds like something a 5th grade boy would be excited about, but there's no other good way to put it.) And in the secret hiding spot, there was a love letter from Bill! You read right, a LOVE letter. Not a like letter, not a strong feelings letter, an actual legit love letter telling me he loves me! I'm so happy... if I was a puppy, I'd be peeing on the rug. So yes, Bill loves me, I love him, life is pretty damn good right now. I still miss him a lot though. I'm hopeful about where he'll end up next year, since my parent's house is looking more and more realistic. Growing up right now kind of sucks. Remember when your biggest concern was not getting the Barbie Jeep for Christmas?

Those were the days. At least I have Bill!

Food in a Cup = FIAC

Today at work, I was talking with my boss about food, and she accused me of having a thing for food in a cup. I can't tell a lie, this is true. Food in cups is the dreamchild of college students and the creator of the microwave. Sadly, one of my favorite foods does not come in cup form yet, and that is Betty Crocker's Suddenly Pasta Salad. DELISH. However with no stove, I cannot make said pasta goodness, and because I cannot have it, I lust after it frequently. Anyway, here are some of my favorite foods in a cup. Do I endorse them? Hell yeah! I'm not even getting paid, haha.

1. Easy Mac

Oh so delectable, Easy Mac became even easier by including the needed bowl in order to make it. Plus, there's an incredible variety of flavors! Just today, I learned that there's a mexican/taco flavor.

2. Stove Top Stuffing Cups

Stuffing is on my top 10 list of favorite foods, but until this fall, I could only eat it at Thanksgiving when ma momma makes it. BUT NOW all it takes is a splash of water and 45 seconds in the microwave, and voila! Instant stuffing! I vote for mashed potatoes and gravy in cups as well.

3. Pudding/jello

It's basically the same thing, so you're getting one pic. Imagine the chocolate parts are really tropical fruit colors and it's Jello. Anyway, this is a classic FIAC (food in a cup), my hunch is that it was the pioneer FIAC. A zillion years later, it's still low cal and yummy.

4. PearsCall me an old lady, but these are just the handiest little fruit servings ever! I buy them compulsively, and then don't eat them, so endorsing them probably wouldn't be the best thing. However, on the occasion that I'm craving fruit and I ran out of bananas, they do the trick

5. Healthy Choice Fresh Mixers

Okay, okay. So I know this isn't technically a cup, it's more of a bowl. However, it's amazing, so I'm going to count it. It doesn't need to be refrigerated, and it's one of the tastiest FIAC I've come across. Healthy Choice in general is becoming one of my favorite food brands, since I'm trying to less of a fat kid. I'm a fan of the mixer pictured, Southwestern Style Chicken, and of their Sweet and Sour Chicken. Mmm... chicken.

There you have it. My favorite FIAC. So all you poor college students, or anyone who doesn't have a fridge, but has a microwave, go crazy the next time you go grocery shopping!

In other news, I'm a bad girlfriend. I have now forgotten two days in a row to mention that Tuesday was my 1 year anniversary with Bill! It seems kinda crazy that it's been a whole year. Anyway, happy belated anniversary (hey, at least I told him over the phone!) to Billfriend and I!

1-2-3-4

I believe I started an entry awhile ago, but instead updated things on my profile instead of actually publishing it. Whoops!

So, I pseudo-graduated! AND even more exciting, I made the Dean's list! My last semester of college and I FINALLY made it! YAY! Graduation was fun, but stressful. I kind of want to do it again so I would really remember the emotions attached to it. I was entirely too preoccupied with being at the right place at the right time, and saying the right things, and looking right, et cetera. I did a good job of keeping myself composed, except when I was with Bill. I've heard it said that people tend to take out their bad feelings on the person they love the most because there isn't a risk of losing that person. Unfortunately, that person is Bill for me, and he got to experience all kinds of bitch. Sorry about that. I really did try, but let's face it: if I kept things bottled up all day instead of releasing steam as the day goes on, all kinds of bad things would have happened. Once my family left, and once Jen left (which was probably the second hardest goodbye I've ever had to say), I calmed down a lot. Bill and I watched Twilight, during which I fell asleep, and then we went on a two hour walk through Oakwood late at night. It was so nice to just walk and talk and not deal with computers and web cams and time differences. We could talk to each other and hold hands and look at all the pretty houses that I will never be able to afford. I can't even think of a word that covers it because perfect just seems too mundane.

I'm presently in love with 1, 2, 3, 4 by The Plain White T's. It's pretty much my life and I love it.

Sorry I'm being so completely mushy and cute, I can't help it. The day that I won't have to deal with stupid long distance crap is getting closer and closer, and even though that day isn't a date yet, I know it will be.

I've been making some stupid mistakes lately. First, I missed my last final. Whoops. Luckily the professor let me make it up that afternoon. Then, I double booked my two summer classes because one of them was an online class and there were these mandatory webconferences. Well, during the school year, you only have to do 4 of the 8, but during the summer you have to do all 8. So 4 of the 8 were during my English Lit class, and without those 4, the highest grade I could have gotten was a D. NOT ACCEPTABLE. I had to drop it, my professor basically told me. But on the bright side, I was able to get into the online version of Philosophy of Music, which is the class I'm actually required to take. And I'm pretty psyched for it.

This is getting wordy. I'm gonna go and talk to Bill. Not Billy, Bill. <3

ch-ch-ch-changes

Things are looking better right now. Bill and I have been having a lot of good long talks lately, and we're both realizing that some things need to change. It's not going to be an overnight fix, but as long as we're both willing to work at it, we'll be okay. This is just a hard time for both of us, and we both started freaking out at the same time, but now that we know that we're both still in this, we're both feeling better about things.

Today is my last Symphonic Wind Ensemble concert. As much as some people hate SWE and can't stand Dr. Reynolds (myself included sometimes), this concert is going to be really sad for me. Somehow, SWE is the one and only thing I've stuck with all four years of college, and in many ways, it's made me more of a musician than lessons with Gilley ever did. It's going to be a little sad to have to leave the ensemble. I'm really hoping that wherever I end up next year, I'll still be able to play in a community band or something. I really love being in ensembles, I just don't like playing solos and taking flute lessons. Maybe if I had started taking lessons when I started playing in 4th grade I would have liked it a little more. In any case, having my last SWE concert is just another step in leaving UD. Sad day.

scared

There are a lot of thing to be scared of right now. First, I'm absolutely terrified to graduate. I'm not ready to leave UD at all. I thought I was, but with the exception of a few situations, I'm happy here. I'm reasonably safe here. Classes are lame, but the majority of them I can squeak through with no problems. I have things to do here, I love my job here, even if it's only 10 hours a week, it's worth it. So why would I willingly leave? Sometimes I really think I made a mistake with taking off that extra year I had added on last year. I could have changed to a major I actually enjoyed and could get a decent job with but instead I got the quickest degree possible so I could graduate faster and be with Bill faster. And now all that seems like a bad idea.

My relationship is the next thing to be afraid of. I'm about to take a leap of faith by moving away from my friends and family, and NOW Bill has decided that he's not sure he wants me to move to Denver. Everything I've done since last July when I decided to change my major has been so we could be together, and now he's decided that he's afraid of committment. Really, after dating Laura for 4 1/2 years and after dating me for almost a year, you're afraid of commitment? That doesn't quite add up. I'm so scared to move away from everyone, and all I wanted was a little bit of support from him, and now that I'm not getting that, why would I move to Denver? I'm not wanted. Why keep a relationship long distance when it has the possibility to become a "regular" relationship? I've always been one to do whatever it takes to follow my dreams, but this is the first time my dream has turned me down. I'm not asking for marriage, I just wanted to be near him so we could see if we could work close distance for longer than just 3 months. That's all I want right now. I would follow him to the ends of the Earth if he wanted me to. All he has to do is take me by the hand and give me a path to follow.

I love airports! (sometimes)

I'm presently sitting at my gate in the Denver airport, entirely too early, since my flight doesn't leave for another 2 hours and I'm already through security. I have to say, this airport is pretty nice, since it has a nifty little train that takes you to the different concourses. The nifty little train also plays a little jazzy piano thing when the doors are closing. And it gives you attitude and makes you feel guilty if you try to run onto the train at the last minute and the doors close on you. I believe it says something along the lines of "The doors are closing. YOU are preventing this train and its passengers from leaving on time." It's a little scary. It also has nice cushy leather armchairs by the gates with electrical outlets to plug in lappys. However, the internet here sucks! At the Indianapolis airport, I had to sit at a bar on a stool to plug in my laptop, which wasn't very comfortable, but at least my internet worked! Here, I waited for almost five minutes for Facebook to load. And here, there's an annoying bar at the top of my internet page where I can search the Denver International Airport for flights or shops. Um, there's a big screen to the left of me that lists all flights. And who honestly goes to the airport for shops? If there's not something by your gate that you like, walk about 100 feet and there will be something else. Dur.

Anyway, I had an awesome time in Denver with Bill. This trip was a little less tourist activities, which was nice. We went up to Estes Park for a day and a half, and that was great to get out of the city for a bit. I took some amazing pictures of nature things up there. I'll post some pictures here, but they'll all be up on Facebook in short order, since all 4 of you who follow this are also my friends on Facebook.

Hmmm... change of plans. The whole posting pictures thing doesn't seem to be working too well with a crappy internet connection. I guess you'll have to look on Facebook. Maybe the crappy internet will let me post to Facebook? We'll see... I still have awhile before my flight leaves!

getmeouttahere!

I'd like to graduate now please! My senioritis has reached it's peak, I hope. I don't want to do ANYTHING! la-di-da-di-da... that's about all that's going on upstairs right now. This is an absolutely terrible time to have this happen... I still have a whole bunch of stuff to do before I get out of here in August. I'm just so tired of this department. I'm tired of this school. I'm tired of Dayton. I'm ready to spread my little birdie wings and fly away!

In other news, what happened to that awful worm that was supposed to infect all those computers? Didn't get mine, thank goodness. I don't have much stuff backed up, but I guess that would be a big sign that I need to get a new lappy.

I think I'm going to order Chipotle for dinner. It's been since Saturday! I deserve it.

I'm not a fan of the newest Facebook revision. It's very confusing and I keep seeing people write what they mean to write on a friend's wall as their status update, haha.

Just three more days until I see Bill! HOORAY!! Even though this has been the shortest time apart since we started this long-distance ridiculousness, I miss him more this time than I have before. It must be love!

achoo

Welcome to allergy season! Guess who forgot to take her allergy meds this morning? Just call me sneezy.

I'm attempting to eat a little bit healthier. I don't want to be constantly battling myself my whole life, and I figure that now while I'm younger, I have a better chance of getting myself back in shape. I presently have a 24 pack of Diet Coke in my room, and when it's gone, I'm not buying more. I don't need anything else to puff me up! Hopefully I'll be able to start working out soon... my knee hasn't been as bad today, but there are plenty other body parts that can try to rebel on me.

I'm at a bit of a crossroads in my life right now. I'm really afraid to move away from my family, but I don't want to be far away from Bill either. I just don't see the point in me finding a job in Denver, moving me and all my crap out there, and then in another year having to pack it all up and move back to Dayton when Bill goes back to school. Then I'd have to find another job and another place to live! It just doesn't make any sense. Ideally, what I want to have happen is for Bill to move to Dayton now and work and then go to school 2nd semester, and then I wouldn't have to move all over the place. But he doesn't think he'll get a job in Dayton, and the Americorps thing is a guarantee. But where's my guarantee?? Let's say I move to Denver, get a job and a place to live and then Bill breaks up with me. Then what do I do? I'd be in a strange city with no friends and no family and no boyfriend. He hasn't even told me he loves me yet. I just don't feel comfortable throwing away my life for someone who doesn't love me.

But here's the catch: I love him so much it hurts to not be with him. :-(

it's a love story, baby just say yes

I'm home for Thanksgiving! Bill's going home to Chicago for Thanksgiving! I hate the dentist! Yay!

I kinda feel like I'm losing my friends from home. No one's come to visit me at school since freshman year and it hurts a little. I keep getting told that I'll be visited someday, but when it comes to their priorities, I'm always really low on the list. I know people can grow apart when they get older, but I never thought that it would happen to us. It's scary because when I think of girls who I would want to be my bridesmaids someday, the list is getting shorter and shorter.

Taylor Swift is starting to grow on me. Ashley would be so happy. My sister keeps making fun of me because I listen to the Jonas Brothers and David Archuleta and Miley Cyrus. Apparently this is something that only 12 year olds do. People my age listen to these artists too though! I think it's an age thing. It's like how when we were that age, no one actually admitted to listening to Avril Lavigne because she was "a poser" and now people think the same thing about Miley Cyrus. I think every generation needs an Avril Lavigne and a Hanson. (JoBro!)

Today is our 6 month anniversary! I'm so excited! I know it seems silly, but when over half of the time you've been dating one of you lives in Dayton and the other lives in Denver, it's exciting to know that you survived the distance. It's an accomplishment. And one month from today, I'll be in Denver and in his arms again! I never thought this day would come. When we first had to leave each other, I thought December seemed like eons away. And now it's just around the corner!
